Refund Policy
Subscription fees on Inkwell Shift are non-refundable. This page explains the no-refund rule, the narrow service-failure exception, how cancellation works, and how statutory consumer-protection rights interact with the policy.

§11. Policy summary
All sales are final. Subscription fees paid to Inkwell Shift are non-refundable in whole or in part.
This Refund Policy supplements our Terms of Use. By subscribing to, renewing, or upgrading any paid plan on Inkwell Shift, you acknowledge that you have read this Policy in full and accept its terms. If you do not agree, do not subscribe.
§22. Scope
This Policy applies to all paid offerings on Inkwell Shift, including monthly subscriptions, annual subscriptions, lifetime purchases, add-ons, one-time fees for desktop or offline exports, additional storage allotments, and any other charge that may be introduced from time to time. It applies to all customers, in all jurisdictions, except where mandatory consumer-protection law requires otherwise (see §6).
§33. No-refund rule
Subscription fees and any related charges are not refundable under any of the following circumstances:
- You changed your mind, decided you no longer need the Service, or did not use it during the billing period.
- You forgot to cancel before an automatic renewal and were charged for a new billing period.
- You downgraded to a lower-cost plan mid-cycle. The remaining value of the higher plan is not refunded or credited.
- You exceeded a plan limit (storage, books, overlays, etc.) and chose to upgrade temporarily to clear the limit.
- Your account was suspended or terminated for violation of our Terms of Use, including for abuse, fraud, infringing content, chargeback fraud, or attempts to circumvent plan limits.
- You were unable to use the Service due to factors outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to internet outages on your end, hardware failures, third-party platform changes, browser bugs unrelated to our code, or political, regulatory, or trade restrictions affecting your region.
- You disagreed with a change to features, pricing, or terms that we previously announced and that took effect.
- The book or content you published did not perform as you expected with your audience.
- Any other reason not expressly listed in §4 below.
For the avoidance of doubt, partial refunds, pro-rata credits for unused days, and refunds of any portion of an annual or lifetime plan after the start of the billing term are NOT offered.
§44. Narrow service-failure exception
Notwithstanding §3, we may, at our sole discretion, provide a service credit (not a cash refund) where, within the seven (7) days following a paid charge, all of the following are true:
- you reported the issue to us promptly via the support channel published on our website;
- the issue is a verifiable failure of an essential function of the Service (for example, the editor refuses to load for all users, the viewer fails to render any book, or our servers are unreachable for an extended outage);
- the failure is attributable to us, not to your network, device, browser configuration, content, third-party dependencies, or jurisdictional restrictions;
- you cooperated in good faith with reasonable diagnostic steps; and
- the failure was not promptly resolved by us within a reasonable time.
Where these conditions are met, the credit will, where possible, be applied to your next renewal. We may, but are not obliged to, offer a cash refund in lieu of a credit. The existence of this exception is not, and shall not be construed as, an admission that the Service is required to be free of all defects or interruptions.
§55. Cancellation is not a refund
You may cancel any paid plan at any time from your billing settings. Cancellation stops future charges; it does not refund past ones. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to paid features until that date.
If you cancel and later resubscribe, you start a new subscription term; no credit from your previous subscription carries over.
§66. Statutory rights & protected jurisdictions
Some jurisdictions grant consumers a statutory right of withdrawal, a cooling-off period, or other non-waivable consumer-protection rights for certain digital services. Where mandatory law requires us to honour such rights and where you qualify as a consumer under that law, those rights are preserved and apply in addition to this Policy. Nothing in this Policy limits any right that cannot be lawfully limited by contract.
To exercise a statutory right of withdrawal where it applies, you must (a) contact us within the period specified by the applicable law, (b) provide your account email address and the date of the charge, and (c) confirm that you have not consumed the digital service to a degree that terminates the withdrawal right under that law.
For most paid features of the Service, the right of withdrawal terminates when you start using the paid feature (for example, when you upload your first PDF after upgrading, when you publish a book under the new plan, or when you use any feature gated by the paid plan).
§77. Chargebacks
Initiating a credit-card chargeback or payment-platform dispute for a legitimate charge — instead of contacting us first — is a breach of these Terms.
Where a chargeback is initiated for a legitimate charge, we reserve the right to (a) suspend or terminate your account without further notice, (b) delete Your Content after a reasonable grace period, (c) refuse future business, and (d) recover from you the original charge plus any processing fees, dispute fees, and reasonable administrative costs we incur in defending the chargeback.
If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us BEFORE opening a dispute. We resolve genuine billing errors in good faith.
§88. Taxes & duties
All fees are stated exclusive of applicable taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax, withholding tax, or similar). Taxes that we are required to collect will be added at checkout. Tax amounts collected are paid to the relevant authority and are not refundable to you, even where the underlying subscription is credited under §4 above.
§99. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The version in effect at the time of each charge governs that charge. We will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, post a notice on the dashboard or send a transactional email. Continued use of the Service after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
§1010. Contact
For all billing enquiries, including questions about this Policy and good-faith requests for service credits under §4, please reach the billing team via the contact channel published on our website. Include the email on your account and the date and amount of the charge so we can locate it quickly. We respond to legitimate enquiries within a reasonable time.
